The Golden Candle

This story comes from a collection of short stories I wrote this past summer as Brackenridge Fellow with the Pitt Honors College under mentorship linguistics professor Dr. Abdesalam Soudi. My research during fellowship combined my interests in and creative writing by tracing impact linguistic discrimination college-student population within systems education healthcare. Throughout summer, conducted series focus groups individual interviews to hear college students’ experiences language throughout their lives, which then crafted into three fiction united theme “The Power Language.” These are amalgamations multiple informant’s bolstered own imaginative details.
